Agile in Finance (CoP - Agile Community of Practice)

My Agile year.
In May 2021 I joined a program that was committed to adopting the Agile@UBS approach, This was quite a challenge to my previous 20 years of experience. The Finance202X program was involved in upgrading the Finance IT systems and moving towards a common platform. This program was committed to using Agile and adopting the Agile@UBS approach. Whilst I had attended a number of Training courses in Agile and had worked with a some Agile teams This would be my first experience of really working in An Agile way.
In the last year I have gone from learning how to create backlogs and sprints and being confused by the differences in the various versions of agile. To setting up the Scrum teams, providing initial agile training and helping others to take on the Scrum certification exams. There is Obviously a long way to go but I’m happy to share the experiences I’ve had in the last year and to learn from you on where to go next.

After Graduating with a Masters degree in Information technology in 1999, I moved to Switzerland to work as a software engineer for a telecommunications company. I joined UBS in 2002 as an engineer on the General Ledger and over the next 10 years I held different roles such as Team Lead, Application owner, Release lead and Test Management before beginning as a Project manager in 2012. To further advance my project management skills, I gained the PMI-CAPM in 2013 and the PMI-PMP in January 2021 and have since focused more on Agile specific certifications gaining the PMI-ACP this year. |
