Women in Project Management

Statistics show that only 30% of Project Managers and 20% of IT professionals are women.

Several reasons explain this gap, however much to do with stereotypes associating IT industry workers and leaders with masculine traits.

However, recent studies show that skills and traits considered feminine, such as empathy, listening, collaboration, relationship focus, caring and servant leadership, are the ones that most motivate collaborators, especially in times of crisis.

Awareness of the existing gap and the benefits women leaders provide in projects helps promote diversity in organizations, projects and the information technology industry.

Cecilia Boggi, DBA, MBA, PMP, PMI-ACP

Our Speaker, Cecilia Boggi, has worked on software development projects for over thirty years. At the beginning of her career in the software industry, she was one of the few women on project teams. Twenty years ago, she became a project management and leadership specialist. In this area, she also discovered low women participation.

Due to that, she began to examine this situation to try and understand why most of the Project Managers are men and the hindrances women face in the sector.

Today, she plays an excellent role in championing and mentoring women project management professionals, encouraging and motivating them to participate in leadership roles in the industry.
